Styria's thermal region in south-eastern Austria is home to six major thermal spas, each fed by mineral-rich waters that rise from deep within the earth. Bathing culture here dates back to Roman times, and today these spas blend centuries of tradition with cutting-edge wellness design.
Therme Loipersdorf
The largest and most popular thermal spa in Styria, Loipersdorf spans over 40,000 square metres. The Schaffelbad area is a quiet oasis for adults, with warm thermal pools, saunas, and relaxation rooms. The Erlebnisbad side caters to families with waterslides and wave pools. Day passes start at €32.50 for adults.
Rogner Bad Blumau
Designed by the legendary Austrian artist Friedensreich Hundertwasser, this spa hotel is an architectural masterpiece. Organic shapes, colourful facades, and grass-covered rooftops create a surreal landscape. The thermal water here reaches 110°C at its source — one of the hottest in Europe. A day spa visit costs €49, while overnight packages start from €189 per person.
Therme der Ruhe — Bad Gleichenberg
True to its name ("Spa of Tranquility"), this adults-only thermal spa focuses on rest and recuperation. The warm volcanic mineral water is said to be especially beneficial for respiratory and circulatory conditions. The facility features both indoor and outdoor pools, a Finnish sauna village, and a Kneipp water-treading path. Day admission is €27.
H2O Hotel-Therme-Resort — Bad Waltersdorf
Family-friendly and modern, this resort combines thermal bathing with an extensive sport and wellness programme. The thermal water is naturally carbonated and rich in sodium hydrogen carbonate. Our favourite feature: the outdoor infinity pool with views across the rolling Styrian hills. Day passes from €25.
Our Wellness Packages
Our Styria Wellness Escape includes 3 nights at a premium thermal hotel, daily spa access, one signature treatment, and a guided vineyard walk with wine tasting. Prices start from €549 per person, all inclusive.
"There's nothing quite like floating in naturally warm mineral water with the Styrian hills stretching out before you. It's wellness in its purest form." — Anna Koller
